DIY Planner
I have tried every planner I can get my hands on... and I've never liked any of them!
I have awful hand writing that's big and messy. I need space to write, and I have a lot to keep track of, and nothing ever has enough space. I end up getting so frustrated with it that I give up.
I've been hearing more and more about people making their own planners and since I've got a lot of things going on right now, I thought it's the perfect time to give it a try.
I found a sketch book at AC Moore that was on clearance for $6.88 and I bought 2 since there's "only" 160 pages but that's not enough for a year. Plus I wanted to take advantage of getting it at the discounted rate! I bought a sketch book because the paper is thicker than a normal book and I can't stand when pens bleed through the paper. I also bought a 12 p
ack of gel pens because I thought it would be fun to color code my entries. For example, I listed water in blue, the gym in a fun magenta, and food in red.
It's still a work in progress but I love what I have so far.
The first page is the full month, with all the major appointments/events listed. Then I have every day listed in 15/30 minute increments. I really should have gotten a ruler so I could make this more precise. Again, it's a work in progress.
I'm an emotional eater and I get super overwhelmed at work so I listed out when to drink water, when to eat, when to do work at home, etc... I'd really like to schedule out my day at work as well but I never know when a call or a live chat will come in so it's almost impossible to stick to that schedule.
After I did this week I decided to do the weekends a little more free form (my main reason for this decision was to save time and to save paper.) Then it occurred to me, at the start of each week I should list out my goals for that week. So the week of 6/18 has that at the beginning as well. I also added in a box in the corner to list out my meals specifically and to list out the house chores I want to get done that day.
Have you ever made your own planner?
Do you have an tips for staying organized?
Please tell me I'm not the only one with awful hand writing? I'm considering taking a class to make it better because it's always been bad but the more I type instead of write, the worse it gets.
